FAQs - Dairy

If there is a spot of mold on my cheese, is it safe to remove it and eat the cheese?
Hard cheese that has mold on it can be safely eaten if you remove the mold and at least one-inch of cheese around it. Processed cheese that has mold on it cannot be safely eaten because the mold spores can quickly spread throughout the cheese. Cutting mold away or cooking it will not remove the toxins that can cause illness.

How long after I open my milk will it stay fresh?
Store milk in the coldest part of your refrigerator. It will stay fresh for 3 to 5 days after it has been opened or 3-5 days past the expiration date, whichever occurs first.

Can milk be frozen?
Yes, milk can be frozen. Remove one cup of milk from the container to allow for expansion, recap tightly and store in freezer for up to one month. Thaw the milk in the refrigerator not on the counter.

Do the fluorescent lights in the dairy case affect the vitamins in your milk?
No, the fluorescent lights do not have an affect on the vitamins in our milk. We sell such large quantities of milk that it rotates out of the store long before light can affect the vitamins.
